An organisation and a family need different things from a first contact, so the two go different ways from the first question.
For care homes & organisations
We plan, staff, deliver and record a weekly programme inside your setting. Your team gets a fixed schedule, a named instructor and written notes — and nothing extra to organise.
The programme adapts to the setting. The method does not change.
Residential and nursing, including residents who take part entirely from a chair.
Scheduled classes in the communal lounge, promoted with your activity calendar.
Drop-in sessions plus home visits for residents who cannot get to the group.
Domiciliary and day services who want a specialist to refer into.
Four steps, whether you are a forty-bed home or a single sheltered scheme.
Step one
We walk the space, meet your team and see the room we would use. No charge and no obligation.
Step two
Schedule, scope and a clear price. No per-resident charges and no surprise add-ons.
Step three
A short confidential health questionnaire for each participant, reviewed before anyone starts.
Step four
Same instructor, same slot each week, with written notes and a quarterly review.
Included every month
Straightforward, and easy to end. We would rather keep a home because the sessions are working than because of a contract.
What a care manager needs on file before anyone walks through the door. Copies are sent with every proposal, and we are happy to be added to your contractor records.
Every care home taster session we have run has gone on to become a weekly programme. Three of those stories are below.
[Care home name]
[What we put in place, and what changed over the first six months. Two or three sentences.]
“[A line from the manager or an activities coordinator.]”
[Retirement scheme name]
[What we put in place, and what changed over the first six months.]
“[A line from the scheme manager.]”
[Independent living scheme]
[What we put in place, and what changed over the first six months.]
“[A line from a resident.]”
For your director, owner or trustees
An eight-page PDF covering the service, the standards, what is included and an indicative price range — written so you can forward it without having to explain it first.
Or call and we will post a printed copy.
We cover Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton and roughly twenty miles around. Tell us where you are and we will say plainly whether we can reach you.
For families & individuals
Most people come to us after something small: a near miss on the stairs, a stick that appeared and stayed, a parent who has started saying no to things they used to say yes to.
Nobody is watched, nobody is counted out loud, and nobody is asked to do more than they want to on the day. We start with what someone can manage now and build in small steps they can feel.
Thirty seconds · no details needed
Three questions about yourself or the person you care for. We will suggest where to start. It is a friendly guide, not medical advice.
Small local sessions across Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton and the towns between. Strength and balance work at an unhurried pace, in company. Many come for the exercise and stay for the conversation.
£5 per person per session · or £18 a month for a weekly class, £30 a month unlimited
One to one, in the chair they already use, at a time that suits the household. The right choice if travelling is difficult or confidence is low.
£40 per one-hour session · plus travel at 45p a mile where needed
If your relative is in a care home or retirement scheme, we work through the home so everything stays in one place. Ask us and we will contact the manager for you.
Our community classes run across Fareham, Portsmouth and Southampton. There is no need to book a block, and the first session is free.
| Area | Class | Day & time | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fareham | Strength & Balance | To be confirmed | £5 |
| Portsmouth | Seated class | To be confirmed | £5 |
| Southampton | Falls prevention | To be confirmed | £5 |
£5 per person per session, or £18 a month for one class a week and £30 a month for unlimited classes. The first session is free.
Our timetable changes regularly as new venues and groups come on board, and is updated here as soon as sessions are set. Call 07522 466508 for the latest times near you, or ask us to let you know when a class starts in your area.
The things families actually ask on the first call.
Almost everyone says this first. There is no fitness test, no lycra and no standing at the front. You are welcome to come to the first session with her and sit in.
Everyone completes a short health questionnaire before starting, and our instructors are qualified in older-adult exercise, DBS checked and insured. If something needs a GP's view first, we will say so and wait.
No. A good deal of our work is done seated, and the first goal is often simply standing up from a chair without using the arms. We start where someone is, not where they were.
Community classes are £5 per person per session, or £18 a month for one class a week and £30 a month for unlimited classes. Home visits are £40 for a one-hour session, plus travel at 45p a mile where needed. The first conversation costs nothing and there is no obligation after it.
Once a week is enough to make a difference, twice is better. We would rather someone came once a week for a year than three times a week for a month.
Often that is exactly how it starts. You can be our point of contact, and with your parent's permission we will keep you updated after sessions.
Every enquiry is answered personally, usually the same working day. If we are not the right people, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
Services
Eleven services across care settings, community venues and people's own homes. All delivered in person by qualified older-adult instructors.
Our flagship · licensed resource
A complete year of progressive strength, balance and mobility sessions, written out week by week with seated and standing options throughout. Licensed to care groups to deliver with their own team, and to individuals who want the structure at home.
Individual licence
Digital download · £79 for the printed pack. Organisation licences from £450 per site, per year.
Answer a few questions and we will point you to the right service and the right way to get in touch about it.
Licensed programme
A full year of specialist exercise, written down. Every week has a warm-up, the work itself, the progression to look for and the things to watch out for — in language an activity coordinator can pick up and run with.
One per week for a full year, each sheet self-contained and ready to deliver.
Seated, supported standing and independent — so one session serves a whole room.
The same measures we use ourselves, with a simple way to record and compare them.
Written step-by-step progressions for sit-to-stand, balance, strength and walking.
What to watch for, when to stop, and when to refer back to a GP.
A professionally printed pack for the activity room, plus a PDF you can reprint whenever a sheet goes missing.
Each quarter builds on the last, and each has something you can actually measure at the end of it.
| Quarter | Focus | Weeks | Measured by |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | Foundations — sit to stand, posture, ankles | 1–13 | Chair rises in thirty seconds |
| II | Balance — narrow stance, weight transfer | 14–26 | Steadiness when turning |
| III | Strength — light resistance, carrying | 27–39 | Everyday lifting and reaching |
| IV | Confidence — walking, stairs, outdoors | 40–52 | Distance walked without rest |
Individual licence
One person, one year. For an older adult following it at home, or a family member supporting them.
Secure card payment, handled by Stripe. We never see your card details.
Organisation licence
For care groups and schemes delivering it with their own activity team, across one site or many.
We send the terms and a sample month, then arrange a call to walk your team through it.
About
QFitness is a specialist older-adult exercise practice based in Fareham, working across Portsmouth and the surrounding ten miles.
I grew up in sport and football, and became a personal trainer at 18. I quickly found that my real strength was people. I am a talker, and the social side became the heart of how I train.
Early on I saw a gap. Older adults were being left off the radar: many do not search online for a trainer, and deciding that your health is now a priority is a big step to take on your own. So we go and find them, rather than waiting to be found.
Working closely with a domiciliary care company showed me what is possible — preventing falls, rebuilding confidence, and giving people years back. Not everyone can get to a gym, so QFitness brings it to them: a care home, a retirement community, or their own front room.

Qualifications & checks
A word from the founder
Two minutes on who we are, the people we work with, and how a first session usually goes. If you are deciding on behalf of a parent, this is the quickest way to get a feel for us.
People who walk into care homes every week. Residents should know the name of the person taking the session.
Founder
A personal trainer since 18, now specialising in older adults. Level 3 Personal Trainer and Exercise Coach, falls prevention and first aid qualified.

Based in Fareham and covering roughly twenty miles in every direction, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Gosport, Eastleigh, Hedge End, Havant, Portchester, Titchfield, Stubbington, Whiteley, Park Gate and the surrounding villages. If you are just outside, ask anyway.
Partners & sponsors
We work with care groups, housing providers, local authorities and companies already serving older adults — placing specialist exercise where it is otherwise absent.
I
One contract across a group, with the same delivery standard and the same reporting at every home. Useful when a quality lead needs to see consistency across sites rather than a different arrangement in each one.
Suits: care groups, housing associations, regional operators.
II
Fund sessions in a town or ward and have your name attached to them, honestly and visibly. We run the class, you reach older residents in a way that is genuinely useful rather than promotional.
Suits: local businesses, insurers, mobility and care suppliers, councils.
III
If you already serve older adults — domiciliary care, occupational therapy, retirement property, equipment suppliers — a specialist service to refer into with confidence, and a named person to call.
Suits: care providers, OTs and physios, retirement developers.
No proposal is written before we have spoken. The first conversation is about whether the fit is real — the audiences, the geography and what each side actually wants out of it.
After that we put a short written agreement in place covering scope, how your name is used, and how we report back on what the sessions achieved. We report quarterly as standard, and more often where a partner needs it.
Logos go here as partnerships are confirmed. An empty row is better than a borrowed one.
Contact
Usually the same working day. If we are not the right people for what you need, we will tell you and suggest who is.
Two short sets of questions. Each one ends somewhere different, because a care group and a daughter need different things from a first contact.
If yours is not here, ask it in the enquiry above or call 07522 466508.
Care homes & organisations
Usually within a few weeks of the site visit, once health screening is complete. Tell us your timing and we will be straight about whether we can meet it.
£50 per session, plus travel at 45p a mile where the distance requires it, invoiced monthly in arrears. There are no per-resident charges and no joining fee, so a weekly session for a whole lounge costs the same whether eight residents come or eighteen. If you would rather run it with your own team, an organisation licence for the 52-Week Programme is £450 per site per year.
No. We start with a free taster session, then work on a rolling monthly agreement with one month's notice on either side, invoiced monthly in arrears. There is no minimum term.
That is the specialism. Every exercise has a seated and a standing version, and residents sit on one of three ability tracks, so one session serves the whole room without anybody being held back or pushed too far.
We work alongside them, not instead of them. We bring the exercise qualification and the written progression; they keep the relationships and the rest of the calendar. If they would rather deliver it themselves, the 52-Week Programme licence and a staff training day are built for exactly that.
A room with space for chairs in a circle, and a member of staff who knows the residents nearby. We bring all equipment.
Families & individuals
Community classes are £5 per person per session, or £18 a month for one class a week and £30 a month for unlimited classes. Home visits are £40 for a one-hour session, plus travel at 45p a mile where needed. The first conversation is free.
Everyone completes a short, confidential health questionnaire before their first session, and our instructors are qualified in older-adult exercise, first aid trained, DBS checked and insured. Where something needs a GP's view first, we will say so and wait.
Yes, but we work through the home rather than privately, so everything stays in one place for the staff looking after them. Tell us the name of the home and we will approach them for you.
We cover Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton and roughly twenty miles around, including Gosport, Eastleigh, Hedge End, Havant and the surrounding villages. If you are just outside, ask anyway.
The 52-Week Programme
For an individual: £59 as a digital download, or £79 for the printed pack with the download included. For an organisation: £450 per site per year, with 15% off for three or more sites. The optional staff training day is £295 when booked with a licence, or £395 on its own.
Fifty-two weekly session plans covering a full year, three ability tracks, assessment sheets, written progression ladders and safety guidance — as a printed pack and a digital download.
It is written so an activity team can follow it, with the safety guidance built into each week. Most organisations also take the optional staff training day so their team starts confident.
Yes, under an organisation licence at £450 per site per year. Three or more sites take 15% off — tell us how many and we will send the figures.
Working with us
Start with a call. If you already hold a Level 3 qualification you join part-way through; if not, we arrange it. The full route is set out on the Become a Trainer page.
Yes — multi-site agreements, sponsored community classes and referral arrangements. See the Partners page.
Everything a care manager or a family member might reasonably want to check before we start.
Work with us
Most personal trainers chase the same clients. The work with the deepest gratitude, the longest client relationships and almost no competition is with older adults — and hardly anyone is trained for it.
I
Care homes, retirement schemes and families are all looking for this and finding very little. You will not be competing for the same six clients as every other trainer in town.
II
Helping someone stand up from a chair unaided for the first time in a year is a different kind of win from a personal best. People stay with you for years, and so do their families.
III
Progressive loading, balance work, screening and communication. Specialising in older adults makes you a better trainer with everyone else too.
Five steps, whether you are starting from nothing or already qualified. If you already hold a Level 3, you join at step three.
| Step | What happens | Typical time | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Get in touch — a call about where you are now and what you want from it. No commitment either way. | 30 minutes | Free |
| 2 | Level 3 qualification — arranged through QFitness. Skip this step if you already hold it. | On request | On request |
| 3 | Older-adult specialist training — our own course: screening, the three ability tracks, progression ladders, falls prevention and working in care settings. | On request | On request |
| 4 | Shadow real sessions — alongside an experienced instructor in care homes, classes and home visits, until you are ready to lead. | Agreed with you | Included |
| 5 | Join the team — take your own sessions, with QFitness providing the clients, the programme and the backing. | — | Paid work |
Qualification fees are paid to the training provider; QFitness arranges the place and supports you through it. Prices and timings are confirmed before anyone commits to anything.
Qualifications can be taught. These cannot, so we start here.

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: our email and document provider (Microsoft 365), our website host, and our payment provider where you buy something. Where you take part through a care home or retirement scheme, we share attendance and progress notes with that provider's staff. Where you have asked us to keep a family member informed, we share only what you have agreed to.
Enquiries that do not become clients: up to 12 months. Client records including health questionnaires: for the duration of our work together and for 6 years afterwards, which reflects the period in which a claim could be brought. Accounting records: 6 years, as required by law. We delete or anonymise information once those periods end.

These terms apply to services provided by QFitness Ltd, company number 16281721, registered in England and Wales, of Fareham, Hampshire. Contact: admin@qfitness.uk, 07522 466508.
We provide exercise instruction for older adults: group programmes in care homes, retirement housing and independent living; community classes; one-to-one sessions and home visits; staff training; and the QFitness 52-Week Programme as a printed and digital resource.
We are exercise professionals, not medical practitioners. Nothing we provide is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace guidance from a GP, physiotherapist or consultant. Everyone must complete a health questionnaire before their first session, and must tell us about any change in their health, medication or mobility. We may decline to work with someone, or pause sessions, where we believe it would not be safe without medical clearance. Participants take part at their own pace and should stop if anything causes pain.
Programmes for care homes and other organisations begin with a free taster session, after which we work on a rolling monthly agreement with no minimum term. Either side may end it by giving one month's written notice. Sessions are charged at £50 per session, plus travel at 45p a mile where the distance requires it, invoiced monthly in arrears and payable within 30 days. We will provide cover where an instructor is unavailable; where we cannot, the session is not charged.
Community classes are £5 per person per session, or £18 per month for one class a week and £30 per month for unlimited classes; monthly passes are payable in advance and may be cancelled at the end of any month. Home visits are £40 for a one-hour session, plus travel at 45p a mile where the distance requires it. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel a one-to-one session; sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged in full. We will always try to rearrange rather than charge where illness is the reason.
An individual licence costs £59 as a digital download, or £79 for the printed pack with the download included, and is for use by one person. An organisation licence costs £450 per site per year, with 15% off for three or more sites, and permits use by the staff of the named organisation at the sites agreed with us. The materials remain the intellectual property of QFitness Ltd. They may not be resold, published, shared beyond the licence, or used to deliver paid instruction outside the licensed organisation without our written agreement.
Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details. Where you buy a digital download as a consumer, you agree that supply begins immediately and you therefore lose the 14-day right to cancel once the download has been accessed.
We maintain public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from a participant failing to disclose a relevant health condition, or from exercises being carried out other than as instructed.
If something is not right, contact admin@qfitness.uk and we will respond within five working days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
